Old Bar is a
unique country town located at the southern mouth
of the Manning River on long isolated white sandy
beaches. Surrounded by state forest and nature
reserves, it has special significance for the
local Aboriginal community (Biripi) and offers
picnic areas, safe swimming and bushwalking. It
contains Aboriginal sites which relate to Dreamtime
beliefs. Old Bar is a coastal town, with a population
of approximately 3000 people, in New South Wales,
Australia in the City of Greater Taree. It is
east of Taree on the Mid North Coast, and approximately
300km north of Sydney. Old Bar is home to some
of the best surf breaks in the country.
